On Monday night we got a new addition to our family, Tarzan!!! He has been my sister-in-laws family dog for a while, but they needed to find him a new home. He kind of has a thing for chickens. He always got out of their yard and attatcked the neighbors chickens. So we said we would take him. I thought it would be good for Roxy to have a friend to play with especially scince there is another little baby coming along to push her more and more aside. So far things have worked out really well. Tarzan and Roxy are adjusting to eachother and love to run and play in the backyard. And for me I love how loud and deep his bark is when someone comes to the door. It would scare any intruder away!!!!

I have been MIA when it comes to my blogging. We have had computer problems that we finally got fixed, so now I can blog on a regular basis again. We had a lot of changes in the last 5 months. We bought a new house in October and before we could get settled we found out BABY #2 WAS ON ITS WAY! It was a little bit of a suprise to us, but now we couldn't be more happy to have another little one to add to our family. Kennley is so excited to be a big sister.

ROY - Rosalie Archibald Norman Checketts, 71, passed away August 12, 2010, after a 12 year courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family and all their prayers.
She was born October 19, 1938 in Paradise, Utah to Earl Obray Norman and Cherrol Archibald.
She was educated in Brigham City, Utah and graduated from Box Elder High School.
On February 17, 1956, she married Robert F. Checketts in Brigham City, Utah. Rosalie and Bob were married for 47 years prior to his death in 2003.
She lived in Harperward, Brigham City, and Roy, Utah.
Rosalie retired from the IRS in 1999 after 32 years of service.
Her and Bob enjoyed playing golf with the family. Her creative talents ranged from painting, stained-glass, gardening, sewing and ceramics. Rosalie loved to travel with her family. She loved her cats and they brought here great comfort for the last several years.
She loved her family and enjoyed being around them. She was an excellent teacher and encouraged others to not be afraid of trying something new.
Rosalie is survived by her three children, Robert (Pamela) Checketts, Debra (Randy) Staley, Kelly (Terri) Checketts, 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 5 siblings, Evan Norman, Robert Norman, Amy Markos, Julie Bachman, and Mike Burnham.
Rosalie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert , her parents, and a sister, Patricia.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy, Utah.
Family and friends may call on Sunday, August 15, 2010 at Myers Mortuary from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Monday August 16, 2010 from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the services.
Interment in the Roy City Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Dr. Sandra Buys, Dr. Janet Bloch and the Huntsman Cancer Institute for their efforts in treating Rosalie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Donations may be mailed to 500 Huntsman Way, Salt Lake City, Utah , 84018 or at www.huntsmancancerfoundation.org

First set of stitches!

Our fun day at the park ended up at the Dr Nye's office getting stitches in Kennley's chin! This cute little boy who was Kennley's age came to sit next to me on the park bench and Kennley wanted to follow him, but when she tried to step up on the conctete block she must have tripped and fell face first on the concrete step and smacked her chin. Luckily the cute grandmother and mother of the little boy ran over and tried to help me get Kennley to see if she was okay. By this time she was screaming and blood was just gushing from her chin. My first instinct was to just hold her, but she needed to get to the Dr. The cute ladies ran to their car and got a first aid kit to wipe both of us down. They offered to take us to the Dr so I could sit in the backseat and hold her, but we were not far from her Pediatrician. In order to give her a lidocane shot to numb the area for stitches she had to be papoosed!!! My poor little thing was screaming bloody murder in the papoose, and sweating bullets. My heart ached for her, but I had to keep myself calm inorder to keep her calm. It took about an hour from start to finish, but we made it through her first experience of getting stitches! I did learn one thing....my little sweet princess is VERY feisty and STRONG!

Kennley did really well sitting there for 3 hours as long as she was entertained with food, which included popcorn, cotton candy, foot long corn dog, and snow cone, LOL!

This year we spend the 24th with the King family. We enjoyed a DELICIOUS BBq, and fireworks at Liberty Park.

Our first trip to Pineview as a famiy. We found a nice little spot along the beach that was so much fun! Next year maybe we could add a boat, or maybe that's just wishful thinking, LOL!

This year for the 4th we went to the West Point parade, the carnival, Lagoona beach, and then a fun barbeque at my parents. My Aunt and Uncle were in town this year and it was fun haveing them there to enjoy the festivities with us.

I am dying to make THIS...

Recycled Plastic Bag Wreath

start by cutting the handles and the printed {logo} front off the plastic bags. then scrunch each bag into a vertical strip and folded half,

and then in half again, making a loop at the top. Use a tiny bit of hot glue to secure the end to ensure it would not unravel.

Using a screwdriver poked a hole into a 10 inch Dollar Tree wreath form. By circling the screwdriver a couple of times it made the hole a little bit larger ~ the larger the better.

Filling the hole with a good slab of hot glue stick the rolled end of the bag into the hole, then go back with the screwdriver to poke in any pieces that were sticking out.

Using pinking shears cut the loop in half...

...then the fun part of fluffing.

I ran out of white plastic bags {I only had a few} so I used clear twist tie bags that I had on hand as filler, applying the same folding technique. The clear bags can be found in the food storage section of any grocery store and usually run around $2.00 for a box of 100.

I just adore how this turned out!

The pinking shears add the perfect little ruffle to the edges.

I only covered the front of the wreath form since it will be hanging against a door. The burlap hanger is simply hot glued to the back.

The clear bags give it a little iridescent shimmer.

Vanilla Brown Sugar Body Scrub

This is my favorite body scrub. {not just because it is yummy Brown Sugar and Vanilla either} It's the perfect exfoliate for your heels, knees and elbows and great for your tan legs in the summer time too.

You want to begin by mixing 2 Cups of Brown Sugar and 1 Cup of Granulated Sugar together until there are no lumps. Add in 1 Cup of Sunflower Oil and 1 Tablespoon of Pure Vanilla Extract. {I like to use Sunflower Oil for this body scrub because it does not carry the strong scent that Olive Oil does}

Mix together well and scoop into a sealable glass container.

I purchased a few of these vinyl decals at Joanne Fabrics a few weeks ago at 70% off. {and my nearby store still has a ton left} I got this 4 1/2 X 4 1/2 decal for just 30 cents. The scoops were purchased from Walmart - you can find them in the kitchen utensil section and they run about $2.00 for a set of three. Super cute just to have around for party scoops!

Headed to the store now to purchase all the items needed....WOW, the things I get excited about!!!

Memorial Day Weekend

This year's Memorial Day was fun-filled!!! It also happened to be my birthday....and yes I did just turn 21, LOL!! We started it off on Saturday visiting the graves in SLC and enjoying a delicious greek dinner. Sunday we had a Bonfire and roasted marshmallows with our friends. Monday we headed to the graves around here, spent the afternoon at Lagoon, and then topped it off with dinner at Tepanyaki!!! AHHH, can every weekend be like this...great company, great food, and WONDERFUL families?!?! I love the traditions we have of visiting the graves on both sides of our families. It makes it much more special!

Kennley had her first hair cut at Cookie Cutters on January 29, 2010. She loved it! She sat so still for the girl...maybe because she was glued to the TV watching Barney!

Potty training at 20 months

Kennley started showing some interest in Potty training in December of last year. So we tried it and she loved it. She had to have her readers digest before she even sat down. She did really well for a while and would even tell us when she had to go. Her interest lasted a couple months. She still wants to go sit on the potty but nothing happens. Hopefully she is completly potty trained by December of this year!

Every year we have a big Christmas Celebration with the Checketts side of the family. This year we decided to play a little trick on my cousin. When we drew names for gifts my dad drew my cousin. She said "I want a hundred dollars this year" So that's just what he gave her. We made matching T-shirts with her face on the one hundred dollar bill and wrapped it up. She opened it up and burst out laughing witch in turn made everyone else crack up. Then she opended up a card and inside was a fake one hundred dollar bill made of paper with her face on it. That just took the cake. We all still laugh about it to this day....this year we have to come up with something to top it. Watch out family!

The weekend before Christmas we all went to the Hogal Zoo for breakfast with Santa. The entertainment was good...but the food was YUCK! As for seeing santa, well that didn't go over so well. Kennley would not get anywhere near him without screaming. Poor girl, hope this year is better.

Disneyland in December

Last year for Christmas my parents took all of us to Disneyland. It was so much fun to see the kids light up in the magical world of Disney. Disneyland was so pretty in December...it was a little cold but so pretty. At the last minute my dad was not able to come with us due to work...we missed him but still had a blast! Can't wait to go again!!!

KENNLEY 15 MONTHS!!!

Well, she hit the 15 month mark on the 10th of July!! She is growing up so fast and getting to be so independent!! She has started to want to feed herself with a spoon and a fork. We have to help her still very much with that or it gets EVERYWHERE. One of her very favorite foods right now is grilled cheese sandwichs(but let me tell you she eats anything and everything.) She has been walking for a couple months now, and is all over the place. You can't keep her still anywhere you go, unless she is strapped down,LOL. Kennley is also a little talker now. She will almost repeat everything you say, here are her new words:

She also has been able to recognize what objects are: for example we will tell her to go get certain things, like her blanky, ball, Barney, book, and she goes and gets the right object, brings it to you and says "here"

WEDDING 7-23-09
This weekend our good friends Kayla and Rocky had a very beautiful outdoor reception. The girls and I were the bridesmaids so we all had very cute dresses that her mom made. It's so much fun to get everyone together and goof around, dance to the band, and eat the yummy food.

CLINTON DAYS!!! 7-18-09
We had so much fun taking the kids to the carnival and
fireworks at Clinton days. They loved riding the rides,
and I loved watching their little faces as they were having
so much fun together. We ate LOTS of yummy carnival
food and enjoyed the fireworks too. Next year we will have
to go to the parade.

OUR LITTLE COUCH POTATO!!! 7-10-09
I think Kennley has just a little, wait who am I kidding, it's
a HUGE obsession with "Barney." These pictures say it all.
She will run in any room that has a TV and point to it and say
"Bardey, Bardey" and run in circles till you put it on for her.
Then she gets in her very own little chair, grabs her "blanky",
and will watch the whole movie. It is the funniest thing to
watch her follow along with Barney and the kids as they clap,
dance, and sing. It's really educational for her, but man are
we a little tired of the big purple dino, LOL!!!! She loves
watching him so much that if you don't put it on for her when
she wants to watch it, she literally throws a tantrum on the floor.
It's so cute and so funny. I really need it on video!

WATER WORM!!!! 06-30-09

Kennley LOVES, LOVES, LOVES, the water!! She loves
to splash and dump water in her face, and thinks it's the
funniest thing ever. She loves getting in her pool, getting
out, and jumping right back in, over, and over again. And
check out our little model in the sunglasses!!

I know, it has been forever scince I last posted, but we have been so busy and having so much fun, I just haven't had the time! So here it goes(there are like 5 or 6 different posts, so ENJOY)

WOW, does time just keep speeding up or what? Kennley is already 13 months and gettin a little personality of her own(and can I say SASSY)! She is getting so big and learning new things every day! Here are some of the things she knows

We got on this kick the other day and went and bought Brent a new bike and a bike trailor for Kennley, so we could all go on bike rides together! We love it and have so much fun! In the morning's I go for a run(it converts into a jogging stroller) and at nights we go for bike rides. Now we need to find some new bike trails to ride:)

For Christmas as a family present we all got season passports to Lagoon! We are so excited to go this year and have a great time! On Sunday we went for the first time...and it was so fun! There are not that many rides Kennley can go on the, but the few she can she loves(Merry-go-round, train, and a boat ride) LOL, we are horrible parents though, we took our 13 month old through the haunted house, and she cried the whole time! Needless to say we won't try that again. We can't wait for Lagoona beach to open! There will be many more lagoon pics to come.

Mother's Day

This was such a wonderful Mother's day for me! In the morning Brent and Kennley got
me a much needed spa package....I loved it so much! Then we went down to West Jordan to the neates park with my in-laws and had a picnic and played on the playground! Kennley loved the swings so much, I thought she was going to catch flys with her mouth as wide as it was from laughing! It was histerical(?) to watch! After the park we headed to my Aunts for a Barbeque with my mom and dad's side of the family....it was such a great time to spend with the family! I just want to tell both the mother's in our lives how thankful we are for them and for everything they do for us....We LOVE you!

Our really good friends Shannon and Scott had their reception a couple weeks ago and it was so beautiful! They couldn't have planned it better! My day started off early by going to do the brides hair, running home and getting myself ready, going back for wedding party pictures, the reception, and then ended with the wedding party dinner! By the end of the day I was totally exhausted but it was so fun! I love getting together with everyone and having a great time. Congrats you guys, we love you and hope you move back to Utah soon!

I babysitt my friends little girl on Wednesdays, and this is how they spend most of the morning! PARTY # 1~Chucky Cheese
On Kennley's birthday we had a party at Chucky Cheese! We all had so much fun eating pizza, playing games and watching Chucky Cheese dance and sing happy birthday to all the kids! I couldn't think of a better way to have spent Kennley's first birthday! Happy Birthday Kennley, we love you so much!

PARTY #2
was saturday April 11th! We celebrated by haveing our family and friends over for cake and ice cream. It was so much fun to see all the cousins wanting to help Kennley open her presents(she really didn't mind at all....and I think the other kids enjoyed opening her presents more than she did). She got so many cute clothes and so many fun toys that she will enjoy very much this summer....thanks everyone for your thoughtful gifts! After presents we did cake and ice cream, and man the colors we chose sure stained Kennley's skin, which was so funny! She absoulutely loved eating her cake, and it was so fun to watch!

CARSEAT COVERS!

I started makeing carseat covers for fun(I made this one for our new little niece Hallee). I started makeing them for Kennley's carseat because I hated draping blankets over her....they either blew off in the wind or they would come off when I grabbed the handle. They are great for keeping the wind out, GERMS from public places, the sun, and they are great for napping on the go. They have many colors for boys and girls, and they make great shower gifts! If anyone is interested they are $32.00 and I can customize it in your favorite colors!

On Saturday we took Kennley to the Clearfield Aquatic Center to go swimming, along with our friends the Nordberg's. We really thought Kennley would love the water because she is such a water worm in the bathtub, but we were wrong. Maybe it was the life jacket that she didn't like? When we put her in the water she just cried and cried if you were not holding on to her, and then she warmed up to the whole thing and started splashing and laughing. But by then we were all ready to go home! We are just going to have to keep taking her so she grows to love the water and her life jacket. Swimming lessons here we come!

Spring Fever.....

We have had spring fever at our house so bad. The other day we took kennley out to play on the swingset in the backyard and she loved it! She wasn't so sure about the slide but she loved the swing so much. She has been sitting/standing at the back door watching the golfers and bang on the door "like let me come play with you".
We are sure going to have a ball this summer with her, swimming, jogging(we are running the ogden 5k)playing at the park, and going to lagoon. Enjoy the pics!

Last weekend My friends and I went to a wedding shower for one of our friends. It was just a small shower with a few of her sister in laws because she is already married and we didn't get a chance to throw her one before the wedding. We all dressed her up in her toilet paper wedding dress and of course Kennley was right in the action eating it as fast as we could put it on her. Then on Saturday morning....Way to early for a saturday.....we all went and played basketball. It was so much fun, but man it has been so long scince I have played. Our friend Tiffany is getting her personal training certificate in a couple months so she has had us on a couple days a week work out routine, which has been awesome. She literally kicks my butt every time. So That was the reason for the basketball....to switch it up a little! Can't wait for this Saturday, football with all the hubbys!

FALSE ALARM....

So, I just thought I would post this because now we are all laughing about what happened at our house tonight. I had just got done makeing dinner, chicken noodle soup, and we all sat down to eat and watch TV. All of a sudden all of the smoke alarms in our house went off. We all looked at eachother and I looked over at the stove to see if anything was burning. Nothing. We walked down the hall and could smell smoke, so I ran to my phone and called 911. The thought that ran through my head was what do I grab? Everything we have is in this house! I ran outside with Kennley to check for flames on the roof or comeing from the attic while I was on the phone to dispatch. At that time Brent and my brother were checking the entire house for smoke. A few minutes later here come the ENTIRE Syracuse city fire and police departement......no lie, there were 4 fire trucks. We were then told to get out of the house! I seriously was paniced! All the firemen were all geared up and drug the firehose in the house to check for flames. At that time a neighbor came and took me and Kennley over to his house to get out of the cold. I swear I was there forever! They had turned off the power and the gas to the house and checked every square inch of it and found NOTHING! Well, they did find a small gas leak in the basement near the water heater but no smoke and no flames. I was so releived to hear they found nothing, but on the other hand it still makes me nervous. Why did the smoke alarms go off and why did we smell smoke down the hall near the attic? The fire departement said it could have been an outlet that blew and sent smoke up the wall, or it could have been an electrical wire that blew a fuse and the smoke from that set the alarms off. So, at the time it was very scary and very intense, and I am so thankful that nothing serious happened!

So, Bath time has turned into a nightly ritual at our house. It seems to help Kennley sleep better if she has a bath before bed, and if she sleeps better, WE sleep better. And the best part of it, is she ABSOLUTLEY LOVES it. She is going to be a little fish this summer. The funniest thing to watch is when the faucet is running, she will stick her face in the running water and then just laugh. What a fun age! Man how would it be to be 10 months again! So, I am now a "couponer" for life! I took two coupon classes to learn how to cut your grocery literally in half and get items for free, and guess what it really does work! Today was my first coupon experience and I can now say I LOVE to go grocery shopping! I also have two coupons for Suave lotion that I will be getting for FREE(I just need to go to Smith's)

Kennley month 9....

WOW, Kennley is 9 month's already.....I can't believe it! She has grown up so much just in the last month. I have to say month 8 was a big one for her. She said Dada and Mama within a couple days of eachother and always repeats it when she see's Brent and I, she started crawling and is all over the place, and got her two top teeth which made four total, and today she broke another tooth on her bottom which will total 5.....she is going to have all her teeth by the time she is one if she keeps breaking them, haha. I absolutly love this age. Kennley is the happiest baby I have ever seen.....with smiles from the minute she wakes up till the minute she goes to bed. She loves to explore more than ever, and man is she a talker.....there is never a quite moment when she is in the room!

Christmas 2008.......

I know I am a little behind on my post, but things have been so busy with us lately that I haven't had time to do anything, well truthfully I have been too busy playing with my new camera that I got.....ENJOY. We started it all of by spending Christmas Eve at my inlaws(I don't have pics because for some reason my old camera is not uploading)and had a very YUMMY dinner made by mom, opened gifts, and played songs on the chimes.....such a fun Christmas tradition. We missed Carolyn this year, but were able to talk to her Christmas morning from England. We had such a great Christmas Eve with our family and enjoyed all our gifts.

Then on Christmas morning Kennley let us sleep in until 8:30....and that was wonderful. We spent the morning opening gifts from eachother and watching/helping Kennley open her gifts. After the first two presents she opened she didn't care about the toys and other presents, she just wanted to eat the paper. We laughed and finished opening them for her. My parents came over after to see what the kids got, and then we headed up to their house for the rest of Christmas Day. We had another YUMMY Christmas meal made by my mom, and opened more presents. We were all so spoiled this year, and loved everything we received. I just love Christmas....spending time with family, and enjoying fun traditions every year!

WOW, I have busy lateley and have slacked on my blogging. So I will catch up with everything that has been going on. Thanksgiving was GREAT! We had two dinners. We spent the first part of the day at my parents, and ate a wonderful meal that my mom cooked, and watched the big Turkey Bowl. My team was playing so I couldn't miss it, and of course they WON, yea! We then headed to my in-laws for another wonderful meal cooked by my mother-in-law and sister-in-law. We always love Michelles beans! We don't get to see them very often so when we do it's nice to sit around the table and visit with everyone(this year Carolyn is on a Mission so we missed her.) What a great day to spend with the ones you love. We went home with full belly's!!! Here are a few pics of all the kids on Thanksgiving. They all love Kennley so much and always give her loves.

It's hard to believe my little girl is eight months next week. She is growing so fast and learning new things everyday. I call her my rollie pollie because she rolls everywhere. She hasn't learned to crawl yet, but she does get up on all fours and rocks back and forth,but then decides to roll instead of crawl. We just love watching her play and and listening to her talk and scream at everything.

I watch my friends little girl on Wednesdays and it is so much fun. Aiva just loves Kennley and always wants to hug and kiss her. It's the sweetest thing! I love watching them play together!

On Saurday all of our friends decided to head down to Salt Lake and do dinner and go to the lights at Temple Square. We decided to go to dinner first at the Spaghetti Factory in Trolley Square. Brent and I decided to welcome Rocky into the group by playing a little joke on him. We told the waitress it was his birthday and to come out and sing to him. No one at the table had a clue except Daniell(I had to tell someone) so at the end of dinnner here come all the waiters singing Happy BIrthday. He looked puzzled and had no clue they were singing to him until they put his ice cream in front of him. We all laughed and had a good time with it. Dinner took too long so by the time we were done and out to the car they were shutting the lights off. We were so bummed not to go to Temple Square, but we will for sure try again. I have to say that we have the best group of friends EVER! We always have fun no matter what we are doing. Here is a few pics from dinner, (but none of Brent and I cause we are taking the pics.)

My mom and I went to see Twilight this morning and, what can I say, it was AMAZING. I loved every minute of it and already want to go see it again(well, I already have plans with friends to see it again.) The movie followed the book so well, I was not disappointed at all. And can I just say that all of the actors are beautiful and they made the movie even that much better. Thanks to Dr. Pobanz, and orthodontist, who rented out an entire theater for all of the Dental offices that refer patients to him. At the end of the movie he had a drawing and gave away many t-shirts, soundtracks, posters, and keychains. Not only did we get free tickets to see Twilight, I got a free Twilight t-shirt....LOVE it. Hope everyone enjoys the movie as much as I did.

Funeral/Disney ON Ice......

We had quite the busy weekend. My uncle passed away last week so we headed to Moab for the funeral over the weekend. We stayed a couple of days and spent some much needed time with the family. We will all miss him very much and we will cherish the memories we had with him. When we got home my parents took us to see Disney on Ice at the Energy Solutions Arena, and it was soooo good. I think my very favorite part was the Lion King! They did such an amazing job and the costumes were great! Here are a few pics of Kennley and my nephew>

Okay, so on Sunday My friend Jasen and I bet on the Dallas Cowboys game. You have to know that they are my all time favorite NFL team and I am rooting for them all the way. Anyways The bet was if my Cowboys lost then I had to post 10 reasons why Jasen's website and him personally are better than my blog and me personally, and vise versa if they won. Well, unfortunatly they lost:( So here I am keeping up my end of the bargain and posting 10 reasons why he is better than me(and let me tell you this is going to be easier than I thought)

SO here it goes:
1: His website is much cooler than my blog because his website has a lame background and only one lame song.

2: He makes the best fajita's around(if you want to go home and be sick for two days after)

3: He is the funniest person I know(well I guess I don't know very many people)

4: He carries a man bag.....I wish I had a purse that was just as pretty.

Last night was Kennley's very first Halloween. We celebrated by handing out candy for a while(there really were not too many this year) and then by takeing our little LAMB out Trick or Treating. We dressed her up in her costume and headed to my parents neighborhood. Her first stop was at Grandma's and Grandpa's house for a big bag of candy that Brent and I will really enjoy. Then we headed to a few of the neighbors that wanted to see her all dressed up, and they all ohh and ahhed over how cute she was. Kennley(or I should say us) made out like a bandit on her very first Trick or Treating experience. After all the fun Trick or Treating we headed to Red Robin for dinner(yummy.) We had a wonderful time on her First Halloween and look forward to next year's costume and candy. We love you baby!

HaLLoWEen Party, and Dr. appt..........

Last night our good friends the Nordberg's threw their annual HaLLoWEen party! Everyone has so much fun and looked so cute. Costumes were required(which makes it funner)so Brent and I went as punk rockers. We left Kennley to spend the evening with Grandma and Grandpa so her Halloween pics will be comeing soon(SOO cute). After we left the party the hubby decided to go back and shut the power off on the house, so like little PUNK kids we staked out the house. Brent jumped the fence, crawled across the deck, and flipped the switch. We sat and watched them come outside looking around with flashlights, and we laughed so hard. Thanks guys for alway's throwing such an awesome party. We love Ya!

Friday I took KEnnley in for her six month well care appointment, and she had her last set of shots,YEA, and she got a flu shot too. She is such a trooper and only cried for just a few minutes. Her Dr. said she looks GREAT(he is the best Pediatrician EVER) She now weighs 17lbs and is in the 73rd percentile(no wonder why lugging her in her carseat wears me out.) But with this set of shots, she had the roughest day. She fussed all day and all night and her legs were so sore. I rocked her and massaged those little thighs all day. POOR little thing:(

On Saturday we went and stayed at the Powder Ridge Condo's at Powder Mountain. The drive up was so pretty with all the pretty fall colors in Ogden Canyon, but as we made our way up the mountain the snow on the trees were even prettier. The roads were clear all the way up to the resort, but when we got to the turn off right before the lodge there had to have been at least 6 inches covering the dirt road. We tried to attempt to drive up the mountain in our mazda and the Nordberg's civic, but got stuck about a quarter of a mile up. Luckily our friends that were already there had a truck that was able to come down the mountain and pick us all up. We had so much fun swimming, playing games, laughing, and just hanging out. Thanks Joni and Tony for haveing us come up......we had a blast!

6 MONTHS.......

I can't beleive how fast time flies. Our little angel is already six months and is getting to be so big. She is growing so fast and doing new things each day that amaze us and make us smile. She has brought such joy and happiness into our lives and we are so lucky to have her in our family. Here are just a few things she has been doing and enjoying over the past months.

~She mastered rolling over and is all over the place now.

~Sleeps in her own room, which makes me sad but I knew she was ready(I have the baby monitor up as loud as it goes just in case)

~Drinks juice out of a sippy cup all by herself.

~She loves to eat squash, sweet potatoes, and applesauce.

~She loves our dog Roxy. Whenever Roxy comes to lay next to her she just start laughing and smileing.

~She loves her thumb! She never took to a binki, but now you can't get her thumb or her rabbit away from her.

~She has been sleeping through the night(YEA!) except for those occasional upset tummy nights.

We love you baby girl and look forward to another 6 months!

Last Weekend it was our really good friend Kayla's 25th Birthday. She threw such a fun party with lots of yummy treats and fun friends. We played fuse ball, pool, ping pong, and "I've Never." This last weekend my mom and dad took us all to the Circus. I have not been to the Circus scince I was just a little girl so I didn't know what to expect. I will just say it was a blast! The stunts they perform and the animals were so amazing. There were a few things that had everyone on the edge of their seats with their mouths wide open. Thanks mom and dad for taking us......can't wait for Disney on Ice next month.

1. I have to have my bed made and all 3 of my pillows in order before I can crawl into bed and go to sleep(drives my husband crazy)

3. I cannot handle having a stuffy nose. I always carry Afrin with me just in case(my family gets so mad at me because it is such an awful habit)

4. I cannot go to a haunted house because of the chain saw man at the end. He will seriously make me pee my pants!

6. I cannot sleep by the window, or have the blinds open when it is dark outside.(It freaks me out that I can't see out, but someone can see in)

GOODBYE Swaddle.......

Okay, so I know that mostly all of my posts are about our little baby girl Kennley, but that is because my blog is like my journal. I do keep a baby book with all of her first's and a log of how she is growing, but I am much better at the blogging thing and adding pictures along with my stories. So I hope everyone who looks at our blog and reads our stories enjoys:)

So this may sound kind of corney to alot of you, but we are so excited to say that we are retireing Kennley's swaddle. Ever scence she was just a few weeks old the only way she was able to sleep was to be fed, wrapped in her swaddle, and rocked to sleep, but the minute she was able to wiggle those little arms out she would wake herself up and we had to start the whole process over again(even every two hours when she would wake up to eat.) It was such a process every time we put her to bed at night and down for a nap. Don't get me wrong I loved every minute of holding her and rocking her in my arms as she fell off to a deep sleep. It gave my a lot of one on one time with her that I loved very much.....There is just something about holding a precious little angel in your arms and thinking about how blessed we are to have her in our lives.

So, the other day we just decided to try and lay her down for a nap without the swaddle and see how long she would stay asleep. Within a few minutes she was out and slept for about an hour and a half. We thought maybe it was just a fluke and she was just extremely tired, so we tried it again yesterday for her nap, and the same thing happened. We were so excited! So, last night we were a little nervous to put her down without her swaddle because we thought for sure she would wake up at least two or three times in the night(she has just started sleeping around 8-10 hours at night and it has been wonderful.) I fed her and just rocked her for a little while like I do every night and then put her down, and she cried for about 5 minutes and then she was out. We prepared ourselves for the long night and had the swaddle handy just in case, but she did so good and slept through the whole night. We absolutely love it! And I still get my one on one time with her every nap time and every night. Yea............The swaddle is officially retired:)

FAVORITE MUSIC: Pop and Country(that's what mommy and daddy listen to in the car), and nursery rymes that they sing to me too.

WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY: Pretty much everything....I love my feet played with, my swing, going for car rides, My grandparents, aunts and uncles, and my cousins, filling my tummy with food, but most of all my mommy and daddy make me the happiest.

WHAT MAKES ME SAD: Getting in my car seat, when i'm hungry, getting my new teeth, and the hiccups.

WOW 5 months ALREADY......

Today Kennley turned 5 months old and visited her Pediatrician for her 4 month well child care appointment. She has been off a month because her Dr. went on vacation, but we are still on track getting her immunizations every 2 months. She weighs 16lbs 5oz and is 25 inches long. He said she is very healthy and to keep up exactly what we are doing with her because she looks great. It made me feel good today as a mom to hear that we are doing a good job as first time parents at keeping her happy and healthy. She was such a trooper today with her shots and only cried for a few minutes after(it broke my heart when she squeezed my fingers when they poked her)but then she started smileing at all the nurses again. She also has been cutting her first two teeth on the bottom for a couple weeks now so she has been a little more fussy than normal, so today was a really bad day for her. She is getting so big and getting cuter and cuter everyday. I love to watch her try and roll over and get mad when she can't, and listen to her blow raspberries and squeel and coo. She is growing right before my eyes and I am loveing every minute of it. We also started her on some baby food today too. She loved it.......we gave her some sweet potatoes and she ate like a champ(I think she wanted to taste something other than breastmilk and cereal for a change.) Here are a few pics from today......

Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndrome (SADS)

Here are some eye grabbing facts to help you along...

• Each year in the United States, 400,000 Americans die suddenly and
unexpectedly due to cardiac arrhythmia's. 3,976 of them are young
people under age 35

• Long QT Syndrome (LQTS) is 3 times more common than childhood
leukemia (ALL) in the US and occurs 1/3 as often as cystic fibrosis and
twice as often as PKU (an infant protein deficiency which causes
mental retardation)

• SADS occur in about 240 people per 100,000, with 20 having LQTS,
20 having ARVD and 200 with HCM

• 1 in 200,000 high school athletes in the US will die suddenly, most
without any prior symptoms

Hundreds of children and young adults die each year in the United States due to Long QT Syndrome.
Any young person who has experienced unexplained fainting should be tested.
It is extremely important that all family members be tested for these conditions once one family member is identified as having the condition.
SADS’ Mission: To save the lives and support the families of children & young adults who are genetically predisposed to sudden death due to heart rhythm abnormalities.
Long QT Syndrome
(LQTS)
What is Long QT Syndrome (LQTS)?
1. LQTS is a disturbance of the heart's electrical system, causing an abnormality of the heartbeat, or rhythm of the heart.
2. Because of this abnormality, affected people are vulnerable to sudden fainting (syncope) and even death.
3. Unfortunately, many times the cause of the syncope is overlooked and the events are called simple fainting spells or seizures.
4. Most often, these events occur during physical exertion or emotional stress. In some they occur during sleep.
5. Fortunately, most of these deaths are preventable if the condition is recognized and treated.
What are the Symptoms?
♥ Fainting episodes (syncope) during or immediately after physical activity
♥ Fainting as a result of emotional excitement/distress/startle
♥ Family history of unexplained death below age 40
How is it Diagnosed?
The diagnosis is made from an ECG that has been read by a cardiologist, not a computer. Usually a series of ECGs will enable your doctor to diagnose LQTS. In some cases, an exercise ECG or event monitor will clarify the diagnosis. Finally,a diagnostic genetic test is now available and is extremely useful for diagnosis and treatment.
How Is It Treated?
Treatment is very effective in the vast majority of patients. Medications called beta-blockers are effective in about 90% of patients. In the remaining cases, a pacemaker or automatic defibrillator is used.
A child should be seen by a doctor if she/he has:
• Family history of unexpected, unexplained sudden death in a young person
• Fainting (syncope) or seizure during exercise, excitement or startle
• Consistent or unusual chest pain and/or shortness of breath during exercise

GAME NIGHT.....

Last night we decided to get everyone together to play some volleyball at the park and have a game night. It was such a blast and of course we had to challenge the guys at volleyball and do girls vs guys, and guess who took the tournament.....that's right the GUYS. We kept up pretty well with them with Brent and Devin being pros and all, and after we headed over to Paces to get their YUMMY rainbow floats(I had a small craving.) After that we headed over to Kayla's house and had such a fun game night with everyone. When we get together and do game night we get pretty competetive because it is always girls vs guys in every game we play. None of us like to lose but guess who always loses......Yep, that's right the girls. We try so hard(sometimes we have even cheated) and that gets us no where either. They watch us like hawks now after they found us stashing cards under the coffee table in our favorite game CRANIUM POP 5. But no matter if we lose and they win we have so much fun playin. Thanks guys for such a fun night!! We LOVE ya.

11-21-2008 due to Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince being pushed back until next year. I'm so stinkin EXCITED I can't even handle it. Hope everyone is as excited as I am for the new release date:)

My BABY is growing so fast........

WOW....I can't believe it has been four months since my little Kennley was born, time is flying by and she is growing right before my eyes. I love to hear her cooing sounds, and to listen to her grunting when she is sleepy(it's the funniest thing to hear chew on her blanky and grunt to sooth herself to sleep), but the best is whenever she hears a familiar voice she gets a grin on her face from ear to ear and kicks her feet like she is running a million miles and hour. You can't help but want to squeeze those little fat cheeks of hers too....Anyways on August 11th she had her first taste of rice cereal and I think she really liked it......I mixed it with breastmilk so the taste was familar, but I think most of went down the front of her(we will have to work on the whole spoon feeding thing more.)

Kennley you are such a big girl now and we love watching you day by day as you go through all the fun milestones in your life. We love you and are so happy to have you in our family.......

BABIES FULL NAME?

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THAT SPECIFIC NAME?
We had a really hard time chooseing a name...everything I liked he hated and vise versa. I really wanted the name Preslee Marie King but he said she would be teased forever(I loved it so much I pushed till the night before she was born.) So We were at El Madador in Ogden and this little girl was haveing her birthday and her name was Kennley, it was then we both looked at eachother and said "I love that name." We finally agreed and after hearing it alot we both fell in love with it:)

WERE YOU MARRIED AT THE TIME?
Yes we were married for 2 years and 5 months when she arrived:)

WHAT WERE YOUR REACTIONS?
We were both SOOOOOOO excited to have a precious little baby. Here is how it went down. I was at work when my friend called to tell me how she was feeling so she decided to take a test and found out she was prego. The rest of the day I kept thinking that I was feeling the exact same way she was feeling when she found out, so I decided to stop and get a test. I really didn't think i was so I just decided to take the test real quick and get it over with. The whole time I was so nervous and anxious to look at the test I was making myself sick, so when it was time I finally looked and to my suprise it said "PREGNANT." I honestley didn't believe it so I called my friend and borrowed a test from her that they give you in the hospital, went home and took that test and sure enough that one was positive too. I got butterflies in my stomach and just sat there thinking there is a little person growing inside of me and I didn't even know it. I quickly ran to Wal-Mart and bought some onsies, booties, and little hats, and came home and wrapped them up along with both of the pregnancy test and suprised my husband. The next day I came home from work and Brent suprised me with the entire family room filled with pink and blue balloons. It was so cute!!

HOW OLD WERE YOU?
I was 24 the entire pregnancy, and Brent was 24 when we found out and 25 when we had her:)

WHO DID YOU TELL FIRST?
We had my nephews little walker at the house so we tied pink and blue balloons to it and put the onsies and booties on the tray and put the walker on my parents porch and doorbell ditched them, and then drove to my in-laws and door bell ditched them too. After our parents knew we told everyone else:)

DID YOU WANT TO FIND OUT THE SEX?
Definatley YES. I couldn't wait until my ultrasound to find out the sex so that I could go buy cute little clothes and start decorating the nursery:)

DID YOU HAVE MORNING SICKNESS?
I sure did...If I didn't keep something in my stomach all the time I was miserable, but it only laseted for about 4 months:(

Carbonation, pizza with ranch, oreo cookie ice cream, and slushes from Sonic:)

WHO IRRITATED YOU THE MOST?
I think everyone had their moments with me....my hormones were so out of wack. Sorry everyone:)

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST CHILD'S SEX?
A healthy little GIRL:)

DID YOU HAVE ANY COMPLICATIONS WITH YOUR PREGNANCY?
Not until the end. I was gaining weight and my feet were swollen like any pregnancy, but the last month I was gaining a lot of water weight and my feet and ankels were so enourmous I couldn't even get crocs on my feet. I went to my Dr. appt on the 9th of April and my blood pressure was 160/110, I gained 6lbs in one week, my vision was blurry, and I had been getting bad headaches. That's when she told me they were taking the baby the next day. I just remember crying in her office and thinking I was not ready emotionally....I thought I still had 2 weeks to psych myself up for the whole labor thing:)or physically....I didn't have my bag packed, the house wasn't clean(I just started nesting)and I didn't have all her baby clothes washed.

HOW MANY HOURS WERE YOU IN LABOR?
13 HOURS...I was induced at 7:30am and delivered at 8:45pm:)

WHO DROVE YOU TO THE HOSPITAL?
My husband. The whole way there he had to keep me calm and tell me everything was going to be okay because I had so much anxiety, that I was literally making myself sick:(

WHO WAS IN THE DELIVERY ROOM?
Brent, my mom, and my mother-in-law. At that point I could have cared less who watched because It is such an amazing thing to see this little life being born...It's such a miracle:)

WAS IT NATURAL OR C-SECTION?
Natural:)

DID YOU HAVE AN EPIDURAL?
I sure did. But It wore off after 5 hours, so they gave me a spinal block and that wore off about an hour before I delivered, so I felt everything. But I have to say the worst pain was when I was delivering the placenta....it was like one huge contraction that lasted about 8 minutes with no relief:(

HOW MUCH DID YOUR BABY WEIGH?
She was 7lbs. 1oz. and 19.5 inches long:)

DID YOUR BABY HAVE ANY COMPLICATIONS:)
The only thing that worried everyone is when I delivered her head the cord was wrapped around her neck. Brent said right when the Dr. saw that she immediatly grabbed the cord and pulled it off Kennley's head and her color started coming back. Other than that she was very healthy:)

Yesterday we threw an engagement party for our friends Shannon and Scott. We had so much fun getting together and having a picnic,playing volleyball, and celebrating such a fun event in their lives. All five of us girls have grown up together and have been best friends ever scince we were very little girls. We were attatched at the hip and did some of the funnest and corniest things growing up,but no matter what we did if it was playing in the pool all summer, having our own ghost writer club(I know one of the things that was beyond corney), playing night games, having mud fights, or having sleep overs we had the funnest and most MEMORABLE childhood. But one thing we always said was that when we got married and had children of our own we were still going to be the best of friends, and it turns out we still are. We all got really lucky to marry such wonderful husbands who get along so well and who became really good friends with eachother too. Thanks guys for being such great friends, and CONGRATS Shannon and Scott we couldn't be more happy for the both of you:)

I am a total picture taking freak sometimes(who am I kidding sometimes, all the time).....My camera is always attatched to my hip waiting for that cute picture I just can't resist taking. I am always catching our baby girl doing something that makes me laugh, and always asking our friends and family if they can take pictures of the three of us. You can NEVER have too many pictures. We had such a ball at the Ogden Pioneer Days parade with our really good friends Jasen and Danielle. It was very HOT and the sun was shining right on us so I tried to keep Kennley in the shade the whole time, so she didn't get to see the cute little floats, and all the horses they had(she probably wouldn't have cared this year.) My little 2 1/2 year old nephew really loved seeing all the horses and the tractors they had and kept saying "come on apples lets go follow them", so I had to keep him occupied some othe way and that was by buying otter pops for 50 cents each, WOW they made a killing. I think next year that's going to be my little gig J/K. Well all in all we had a really good time at the parade. We love you guys.....

A Day At SURF AND SWIM

The other day a group of our friends went to Layton Surf-n-Swim and took the kids. The guys went swimming and had a blast(they are just like little kids sometimes) and the girls stayed with the babies. Kennley and Talen are a month apart so Danielle, and I had a mommy play date and waded in the shallow end envious of everyone playing in the water. I loved dipping Kennley's little feet in the water and watching her kick and splash, and the whole time she had a smile on her face. Thanks guys for such a fun day!!!!!

For the fourth we had a BBQ at my parents house and had lots of yummy food!! After we wents to the Clearfield park and watched the fireworks with some friends, and we had a lot of fun. I think once the fireworks started Kennley really enjoyed watching all the bright colors. I really enjoy the different holidays when you can spend time with your family and friends.

Kennley's Baby Blessing

Today was such a wonderful day because we blessed our baby girl!!!! The day started out a little rough though. Saturday night I made sure to set the alarm for 6:30 a.m. so that I could get up and nurse Kennley and then get ready for church at 9 o'clock. Kennley woke up at 5:30 so I nursed her and we both fell back to sleep, and at 6:30 the alarm went off and I hit the snooze. I got up in a panic and started to get ready thinking that I had just enough time to get ready and feed Kennley one more time before the blessing so that she would be content. But would you believe that at 7:45 my blowdryer blew up and I still had a head of wet hair with and hour to go until we had to walk out the door. I ran into the bedroon in a panic and made Brent run to Wal-mart and buy me a new one(I love having a Wal-mart right by our house.) So needless to say my whole plan did not work cause by the time he got back from the store I had just enough time to get ready and get Kennley dressed. She looked so beautiful!!!! Luckily I had some milk frozen so we just took it with us. We walked in right at the nick of time. We sat down and hurried to get her bib on and feed her, but she would not take the bottle. Finally she started eating when they said they were ready to do the blessing, and my first thought was oh no she just ate and did not burp.......Those poor guys are going to get spit up on. But she did great even with a half full stomach she was so peaceful for the blessing(I think she knew her daddy was nervous and she didn't want to make him more nervous) Brent said such a beautiful blessing that came right from his heart, and it couldn't have been any better. Afterwards we had our family and friends over for breakfast. It was so good to get everyone together for such a special day in our lives. We are so blessed to have our little angel in our family. We love her so much and wonder how we got so lucky to have such a precious baby girl who we adore.

What a rought past couple of days we have had. I think we are going on the sixth day with Kennley being super fussy, and we weren't sure what was going on. First of all she has acid reflux and takes previced every day(thank goodness for the medicine). We have spent the last few nights walking around the house for hours while she just cries and screams and we can't do anything to calm her down. My first thought was to call her pediatricion but he is out of town, so I have been stressing out thinking something else could be wrong. So tonight I finally decided we needed to take her into the Dr. to make sure everything was OK. We loaded her in the car at 10:00 p.m. and drove to Wee Care Pediatrics and had her looked at to be on the safe side. She did really well when we first got there, but when the Dr. started poking around she was not haveing it. She had a little built up wax in her right ear so her got his little plastic instrument out and went after it. Brent was holding her body down while he cleaned out her ears and all I could do was stand back and close my eyes. My poor baby was screaming her lungs off and turning as red as a tomato. I couldn't wait until it was over!!! But it was the cutest thing ever when Brent was holding her to get her to calm down she buried her face in his chest and fell right to sleep. Luckily she did not have a fever or any other infection going on, but the conclusion was she has collic. I can sleep a little better now knowing that my baby is not sick.

On Father's Day my side of the family went to the Dinosour park. It was a really hot day so Brent and I spent most of our time in the museum to keep Kennley out of the sun. My little nephew who is 2 1/2 loved it there and still talks about going back, so I guess it's a good thing my dad bought a season pass.

Today while Brent was changing Kennley's diaper he decided it would be really cute to put a diaper(clean of course)on her head and make her smile. I was in the kitchen, when I heard "hurry bring in the camera", so I did. And when I walked in the nursey I found my baby girl with a diaper on her head, and I couldn't help but laugh. I know her daddy is going to keep those picures in a safe place, and when she gets married(If we ever decide to let her leave the nest) those are definately going in her wedding video.
